Obituary for John (Jack) Sherman Brooks

"John (Jack) Sherman Brooks, 69, of 504 W. Seneca St., died at Tompkins County Memorial Hospital Saturday, April 9, 1955.
He was a member of Ithaca Aerie 1253, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Cascadilla Lodge 69, Knights of Pythias, Edison Tent-Hive 938, Macabees, Ithaca Veteran Volunteer Firemen's Assn, and Cataract Hose Co. 7.
He was an electrician with Cornell University for 34 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth M. Brooks; three sons, Elett C. Brooks, Ithaca; Osmer J. Brooks, Whitney Point, and Donald A. Brooks, Danby; his father, Osmer J. Brooks, Oakland, Fla.; two brothers, Charles H. Brooks, Ithaca, and Robert B. Brooks, Orlando, Fla., and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday at the Wagner Funeral Home, 421 N. Aurora St., with the Rev. David Davis of the Whitney Point Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Members of Ithaca Aerie 1253 will meet at the Eagles' Home at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday to go to the Wagner Funeral Home at 8 to pay their respects. The Knights of Pythias will pay their respects at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday."
