Seth Smith Nickerson, 1815-1882:
"His name appears in various records as both Seth Smith Nickerson and Smith Seth Nickerson, the Smith undoubtedly coming from the maiden name of his paternal grandmother.
Seth married Lucinda before 1849, and they had a son, James Henry Nickerson, born in New York about 1849. Lucinda appears to have died between 1865 and 1880. In 1880 Seth is living with son James, daughter-in-law Roselpha, and grandson William Gilbert Nickerson.
Seth married a second time in 1873 but was divorced before 1880 (although he claimed he was widowed in the census)."
