"ITHACA - Charlotte E. Stahl, age 100 of Ithaca, died Thursday morning at her home while under Hospice care. Mrs. Stahl was born in Lodlowville[sic], a daughter of the late Arthur and Charlotte Buckingham. Mrs. Stahl was always proud of being a teacher in the one-room schoolhouse in Groton. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teacher Assn., where she received a Certificate of Appreciation on October of 2002. She was also a member of the GFWC New York State Federation of Woman's Clubs where she earned a Silver Certificate for her years of dedicated service to the club. Mrs. Stahl spent several hours as a hospital aide where she took the book cart around to the patient's rooms. Later, when she was unable to serve in this position, she knitted hundreds of little caps for newborn babies at the hospital. Survivors include Louisa (Sam) Cario of Englewood, FL; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Stahl; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; a niece, Fern (Spencer) Ferris; and a nephew, Earl (Eleanor) Buckingham; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, John T. Stahl, who died in 1966; a son, Richard Stahl, who died in 1995; two brothers, Walter and Albert Buckingham."
Note: She was born in Ludlowville, Tompkins County, NY., not "Lodlowville".
