Ithaca Couple Surprised on 50th Anniversary
The Ithaca Journal, Wed, Nov 1 1944, P. 5. with picture of couple

"Mr. and Mrs. William H. Landback of Honness Lane, Ithaca RD 2, were surprised Monday evening by approximately 50 neighbors in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Landback was born in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Landback in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. They were married in Dushore, Pa., Oct. 31, 1894. Having lived in Wyalusing and Philadelphia, they came to Ithaca in 1912. Mr. Landback was a tinsmith with Treman, King & Co. for 30 years. They moved to their present home 23 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Landback have three children —one daughter Mrs. Howard F. Smith who lives in Philadelphia, and two sons, Walter and John, both of whom live in Detroit.
Mr. and Mrs. Landback were completely surprised when the guests arrived with a three-tiered wedding cake, corsage, and boutonniere. The guests presented the couple with a gift-a money bag filled with 50-cent pieces.
Mr. and Mrs. Landback left Tuesday to visit Wyalusing, where they established their first home."
