"Ruth Burrage Fisher of Ithaca, beloved mother and nana, passed away on the evening of September 15, 2004, at Cayuga Medical Center at the age of 87.
She was born July 2nd, 1917 in State College Pennsylvania to Leslie and Sigrid Burrage. She taught school in Phoenixville, PA, then married in Long Beach, CA. She and Elwood returned to Washington, DC, spent two years in Gainesville, FL, then to Cornell.
Ruth received her BA from Pennsylvania State University and MA from Cornell University. Ruth retired from teaching home economics at Newfield Central School in 1978.

She was predeceased by her husband, Elwood Fisher; and by her brother, Robert Burrage. Ruth is survived by her sister, Edith Wilson; children, David, Allen, Susan Hewes, and Robert: grandchildren, Angela, Geoffrey Hewes, Aaron, Charles Hewes, A ndrew, Leslie, and Daniel; daughters-in-law, Ramona, Deborah, Carol, and Geraldine; son-in-law, Mark Hewes."
