“Mrs. Frank A. Spencer of 315 North Albany street died this afternoon from a complication of diseases. The deceased was 40 years old.”

“Dies at Hospital,” Ithaca Daily News, December 11, 1903, 1.

“Mrs. Martha J. Smith Spencer, wife of Frank A. Spencer, who died at about 2:30 p.m. yesterday, was born in Richmond, Va., in 1863. She was married in New York city in 1887, and with her family came to Ithaca in 1892.
She was the mother of four children, four of whom are living, viz. Eva, Helen, and Frank, ranging between 10 and 13 years old. She also left three brothers, Robert, John and Sherman Smith.
Mrs. Spencer was a member of the Calvary Baptist church, where her funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow, the Rev. A. S. Lomax officiating. Interment will be made in Lake View cemetery.”

"Mrs. Spencer died yesterday afternoon...at the City Hospital.... She was born in Richmond, Va., in 1863 and resided there for a number of years. She married Frank A. Spencer in 1887 and came to this city with her husband in 1892. Besides her husband and three children, she is survived by three brothers, Tobert, John, and Sherman Smith."
