"Ithaca-John Genung, one of the oldest residents of the town of Caroline died at his home one and one-half miles this side of Slaterville Springs.. Mr. Genung would have been 84 years of age had he lived until September 21. Fifty years of this time had been spent on the farm on which he died and his entire life was spent on this farm and one and one-fourth mile distant, which was the familys homestead farm. He is survived by one son, Dr. J.A. Genung of this city and one brother Benjamin Genung, who lived in the old homestead farm, and is 86 years of age."
