"Miss Madeline Frances Small, daughter of D. L. Small of 111 Esty St., and Jerome Heartwell (Brud) Holland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Holland of Auburn, were married Saturday evening, July 12, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gerald, 307 N. Plain St. The Rev. Alexander Pierce, pastor of St. James A. M. E. Zion Church, performed the ceremony. Members of the immediate families were present.
Mrs. Elizabeth Gerald and Preston Hackley of Ithaca were the attendants.
The bride is a graduate of Rochester Business Institute. She has been assisting on the staff of the Central School kindergarten.
Mr. Holland, who was graduated from Cornell University in 1939, received his master's degree Saturday after completing graduate work during the spring term and previous summer sessions at Cornell. A graduate of Auburn High School where he starred in football, he became an outstanding end at Cornell under the tutelage of Carl Snavely, making All-American teams in 1937 and 1938. Since his graduation, he has been on the staff of the Lincoln High School, Lincoln, Pa., as an assistant instructor and assistant football and basketball coach."
