"SUN CITY, AZ - Kenneth C. Beeson, 95, died Sunday, Oct. 18. 1998 at his residence at Royal Oaks. He was the former Director of the U.S. Plant, Soil and Nutrition Laboratory and Professor of Soil Science at Cornell University. Dr. Beeson received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemistry and Bacteriology from the University of lowa and his Ph.D. in soil science and geology from Cornell University. The author or coauthor of a book and of more than 90 research papers, Dr. Beeson has served in such capacities as agricultural research advisor, AID, in the Sudan; visiting professor at North Carolina State University, and La Universidad Agraria. Lima, Peru; and member of the committee on the Geochemical Environment in Relation to Health and Disease. He was a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a member of the American Chemical Society.
Surviving: daughters and son-in-law, Stewart & Eleanor Gully of Cary, N.C.. and Priscilla Marshall of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Interment will be at Sun Land in Sun City, Ariz. along side his wife, Eleanor."
