Obituary for Thomas M. Underhill

"Thomas M. Underhill, 67, of 201 Pearl St., field inspector in the City Building Commissioner's Office and a retired carpenter, died of a heart ailment this morning, Thursday, Aug. 28, 1958, in Tompkins County Memorial Hospital. He had been a patient there 14 weeks.
Mr. Underhill was a member and past president of Carpenters Union Local 603 and a member and past president of the Ithaca Central Labor Union, He was a former board member of the State Council of Carpenters and past president of the Finger Lakes and Vicinity District Council of Carpenters. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
In his work for the city during the past year, Mr. Underhill was known for his technical knowledge and his tact with the public.
He was born in England and he and his wife returned for a visit there after World War II.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Agnes Underhill, he is survived by a son, Richard D. Underhill of Ithaca RD 2; a daughter, Mrs. Dora E. Cramer of Ithaca, and four grand-children.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Wagner Funeral Home, 421 N. Aurora St.
Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery."
