Obituary for Charlotte T. Shaw

"Charlotte T. Shaw, 79, of 105 Halcyon Hill, Forest Home, Ithaca, died Thursday. Nov. 12, 1992, after a long illness.
Mrs. Shaw was born on March 1, 1913, on the campus of St. John's University. Shanghal. China, a daughter of the late Reverend Montgomery Hunt Throop and Elizabeth Nichols and the oldest of six children. She was educated at St. Agnes School, Vassar College and Cornell University, obtaining a Master of Arts degree in Physics in 1936. She married R. William Shaw, former chairman of the Astronomy Department at Cornell University, on June 18, 1937.
  Charlotte Shaw was an active volunteer in the Forest Home and Ithaca communities. She served as Director of the Forest Home School and was active in the Garden Club, Drama Club, Ithaca Women's Club. (President 1963-65), Service League, and the Tompkins County Hospital Volunteer Program. She was an avid gardener and worked for a number of years in the Cornell Music Department.
  Mrs. Shaw is survived by her husband, Emeritus Prof. R. William Shaw, and three sons: Robert W. Shaw, Jr. of Potomac, Maryland; Montgomery T. Shaw of Mansfield, Conn.: and James A. Shaw of Hummelstown, Pa.; and five grandchildren."
