"Benjamin F. (Tokyo) Belcher, 74, of 800 South Plain St., Ithaca died Wednesday, May 29, 1996 at the Reconstruction Home after an extended illness.
Born December 4, 1921, Stanford, WV he was the son of the late Benjamin L. and Anna Brown Belcher.
Mr. Belcher served his country during W.W.II with the Army Air Corp., moving to Ithaca in 1945 and becoming a Operating Engineer working for various construction companies in the area. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #961 and the American Legion, Post #221.
He is survived by his daughter, Victoria Cecil of Ohio, stepson, James (Slugger) Herndon, brothers, John C. Belcher of Ithaca, Joseph Belcher of New Brunswick, NJ and a sister, Minnie Young of NYC. Five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 1995.
Services will be held, Monday June 3, 1996, 1:00 p.m. at the Herson Funeral Home, 110 South Street. Interment with full military honors will be held at Calvary Cemetery...."
