 "Miss Shirley Jean Kellogg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roland S. Kellogg of the Slaterville Rd., and Robert J. Bruce Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Bruce Sr., of 123 Columbia St., were married at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 1950, in the Forest Home Chapel. The Rev. Cuthbert R. Rowe, pastor of the State Street Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. Bruce E. Pierce of Forest Home officiated at the ceremony.

Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a gown of French lace over satin fashioned with fitted bodice tiny buttoned to the waistline, high neckline with Peter Pan collar, lace peplum and partial overskirt over the full satin skirt with short train. Her fingertip veil was fastened to a rhinestone tiara and she carried a cascade bouquet of white roses and ivy centered with pink roses.
  Mrs. Merle D. Wood of Montour Falls, the bride's aunt, was matron of honor. She wore rust colored taffeta, off-shoulder style with fitted bodice and full skirt. The bridesmaids, Miss Virginia Bruce, the bridegroom's sister, and Miss Mary Fisher, both of Ithaca, wore pale green taffeta fashioned like the honor attendant's. They all wore mitts matching their gowns, carried cascade bouquets of rust and yellow pompons and gladioli and miniature hair corsages matching their bouquets. Sandra Dawn Kellogg, the bride's sister, was flower girl and her gown, styled like the attendant's, was of yellow taffeta and she carried a nosegay of pompons.

  Robert L. Anderson of Ithaca was best man and the ushers were Gordon W. Cushing of Ithaca and Herbert K. Litzenberger of Geneva.

  The bride was graduated from Ithaca High School, Class of 1947, and attended Ithaca College Business School. She is now employed as a secretary at the New York-State School of Industrial and Labor Relations, Cornell University.
  The bridegroom was graduated from Ithaca High School, Class of 1947, after serving in the U.S. Air Force. He attended Elmira Veteran's School and the Embry-Riddle School of Aviation in Miami, Fla. He is now employed by Robinson Airlines."

"JUPITER, Fla. - Robert J. Bruce, 59, of 3480 Canal Court, Jupiter, Fla., and formerly of Ithaca, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 1985, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Jupiter.
  While living in Ithaca, Mr. Bruce was the captain of the Number Two Fire Company and the director of the Chamber of Commerce in Ithaca.
  He is survived by his wife, Shirley Bruce of Jupiter, Fla.; two daughters, Kathy Bruce of New York City and Lt. Valerie Bruce Semmler of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister Virginia Naples of St. James City, Fla.; and one granddaughter."
