Miss Augusta Laun And John Hanshaw Are Wed in Ilion, NY (Oct 19, 1935)

"Miss Augusta Laun, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George F. Laun of Ilion and John G. Hanshaw, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hanshaw of Kline Road, were married Saturday, Oct. 19, at the bride's home in Ilion.
  The couple left on a wedding tour through New England, and will be at home after Nov. 1 in Castile. Mr. Hanshaw is employed as forestry foreman at a CCC Camp in Letchworth State Park.
  Both young people are graduates of Cornell University. The bride was graduated in 1932, and is a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. The bridegroom took his degree in forestry in 1931, and is a member of Theta Xi fraternity.
  The bride was attended by her sister, Mrs. Louis Boyle of Ilion as matron of honor, and by Miss Elizabeth Beaver of Verona as brides-maid. Ray Hanshaw, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man.
  In attendance from here were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hanshaw, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hanshaw of Ithaca, James Hanshaw and Frank Hanshaw Jr., brothers of the bridegroom, and Miss Theresa Sinskie. Also present was a sister, Miss Edith Hanshaw of New York City."

 " Committal services for First Lt. John G. Hanshaw of N. Triphammer Rd., who was killed in action Mar. 27, 1944, were held at 11 a.m. today at Pleasant Grove Cemetery with the Rev. John H. Sardeson of the Lutheran Church officiating.
  Lieutenant Hanshaw was graduated from Ithaca High School, Class of 1927, and from the School of Forestry at Cornell, Class of 1931. A reserve officer, he was called to service in October, 1941, and as an infantry officer he was attached to the military government in Italy at the time of his death. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Augusta Hanshaw; a son, John David Hanshaw; a daughter, Mary Kathryn Hanshaw; his mother, Mrs. Frank Hanshaw; a sister, Mrs. A. W. Dimmock, all of Ithaca and three brothers, Ray F. Hanshaw of Warwick and Frank Jr. and James Hanshaw of Ithaca."
