COLLECTION DESCRIPTION
This collection contains various letters written to Genevieve Frances Cosentini of Ithaca from 1943 to 1949. Genevieve was the daughter of Joseph and Florence Cosentini, and her father owned a successful shoe store at 217 E. State Street. At the time these letters were written, Genevieve was a student at Cornell University-graduating in 1946 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Most of the correspondence consists of letters from her then fiancé Ralph Calcagni, who had transferred to Cornell from the University of Pennsylvania to play football and who subsequently joined the Marines. The letters contain references to local places as well as World War II.
This correspondence was donated in 2012 to the History Center by a relative of Genevieve.
