Guide to the Gross Family Collection, The History Center in Tompkins County
COLLECTION DESCRIPTION
This collection contains materials concerning the travels of Ithacans Edna and Lela Gross from approximately 1907 to 1960. The collection includes three scrapbooks created by Edna Gross which contain detailed descriptions of her travels, as well as photos, sketches, and some other souvenirs. There are two scrapbooks describing Edna and Lela’s travels to Canada and one describing their travels to New England. The collection also contains a certificate stating that Lela Gross crossed the Arctic Circle in 1960. There are travel logs of the trips within the United States and Eastern Europe. The collection includes pictures, postcards and maps from their travel.
The collection also includes letters from Edna’s parents to their children and other correspondence between the immediate family members and relatives of Edna and Lela Gross. There is also birth and death information on the Gross family.
