The Cornell Daily Sun, Volume LXVII, Number 79, 5 January 1950
"Arthur Norman Gibb '90, former mayor of Ithaca and practicing architect for nearly 60 year, died at his home, 1022 Stewart Ave., at 7 a.m. on Christmas Day, as a result of injuries suffered in a fall in 1948. He was 81 years old.
A leading figure in drafting the present Ithaca building code, Gibb was the architect of many public buildings, private homes, and business blocks in the Ithaca area, as well as several Cornell buildings and fraternity houses. He designed Baker Laboratory, Schoellkopf Field House, Sibley Dome, and the Chi Phi, Delta Theta, and Seal and Serpent fraternity houses.
A member of Chi Phi fraternity, Gibb attended schools in Canada, and Switzerland, and graduated from the Cornell College of Architecture in 1890. He was a fellow of the American Institute of Architecture and a member of the New York State Association of Architects. Last September he received a citation from the Central New York chapter of the AIA for outstanding public service outside the field of architecture.
Gibb is survived by his wife, a son, daughter, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren."
