“Fred A. Townley, aged 58 years, a well-known contractor, died at 5:45 o’clock this morning at the family residence, 108 Cascadilla Park after a year’s illness. Just one year ago today he suffered a stroke, which was followed by several more. He was the father of City Superintendent John C. Townley.
Mr. Townley was engaged in the contracting business in this city for many years and constructed a number of residences. He is survived by his widow; one brother-L.J. Tonwley of Groton; one son-John C. Townley, and one daughter-Miss Lucy Townley, both of this city.
Mr. Townley was a member of the Masons, Odd Fellows and Craftsmen’s Club.
The funeral will be held at 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon from the late residence. Rev. John A. MacIntosh officiating. Interment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery at Ludlowville.”
