Listed in 1949 Ithaca City Directory as "Howe Frederick E (Grace B) steamfitter CU h N Cayuga ext." and on Cayuga St - North on the right (with phone 9878), immediately north of Rosemary Lane, with Stewart Park and the Louis Agassiz Fuertes Bird Sanctuary next on the left. Listing in Cornell Directory of Staff for 1949-50 is "Howe, F., Foreman, Plumbing Shop, Buildings and Grounds, Service Building. - R. D. 1, 9878." Fred Howe lived in this house until at least 1975. By 1953, its address was 1505 N Cayuga St. He and his wife, Grace, acquired an empty lot from the Bergholtz Realty Company in April 1924 [See BF051484-001 DEED in Tompkins County Clerks Office]. The lot was Lot 3 in Block C as shown in the subdivision map of the proposed Bergholtz Park development [See BF018646 MAP]. Fred built the house himself.
