Liberty Roller Skating Rink, 622 W State St

“Martin Beckna, proprietor of the Globe Hotel, is erecting a roller skating rink at 622 West State street, adjacent to the hotel on the east. It will measure 95x50 when completed. It is planned to have the rink open about March 1.”

“Plans to make Theodore W. Wharton's new studio on West State street one of the finest and most modernly equipped motion picture production plants of its kind in this state, were announced yesterday by Mr. Wharton who was in the city perfecting preliminary arrangements for the starting of the new serial picture which he is to begin filming on August 18 for the Pathe Company. Mr. Wharton also divulged the personnel of several additional members of the cast which is to suport [sic] Jack Norworth in the serial. 
Driscoll Brothers and Company have begun operations to transform the former skating ring on lower West State street into a down-to-date studio, equipped with the latest facilities for pictue [sic] production. It is to be an all-steel supporting structure. The wooden supports are to be removed and replaced by steel beams. The height of the studio is to be increased to almost half as much again as at the present time, making it 20 feet in height.
A rotary converter to supply direct current for the studio will be installed. In this manner the powering company will supply the power for the converter which will, in turn, furnish the direct current for the studio work of filming scenes. …”
