"Old West Hill School Burns," Ithaca Journal, Jan. 11, 1965, page 5: "In recent years the school had been used as a warehouse to store school furniture and used plumbing and electrical equipment ... The school was more than 90 years old. Its construction was authorized only three months after the first Board of Education was established by a special act of the State Legislature in 1874."
The school was used as a polling place. In the online archives of the Ithaca Journal, the poll was described as being at "West Hill School, Chestnut and Elm."
