"[Read ]Wilcox, president-treasurer since 1962 is a fourth generation Atwater. Fred Atwater founded Atwater's downtown in 1898. First location was 320 W State St. Four years later, it went to 117 E State St, and nine years later it moved to 109-111 E State St (Colonial Building). Lack of adequate parking forced Atwater's out of downtown in 1952. Meanwhile, though, another Atwater's had opened at Community Corners. In 1959, Atwater's built a bigger structure at Community Corners."
