This residential building is one of a number of structures in a facility relating to the care of large animals. In the 1950 census, the barns were for cattle, both dairy and beef. In 1974, the facility became the Equine Research Park. The residential building is a two-story house with a long one-story wing that was used as a dormitory in 1950 for students on animal husbandry courses who assisted with care of the cattle. The house was certainly built before 1920, although the dormitory wing might have been added later.
It appears on the 1920 Clock System Map of Ithaca-Enfield Township, identified as 1-2-R at upper right of the map. Resident at the time was Harold Parker, who was farm manager for Prof. George F. Warren for two years prior to Oct 1921, when he moved to a position in Freeville.
It appears on the 1937 "Compass System" Rural Index Map for Tompkins County, identified as 3NE Ithaca 73K. The farm manager at that time was Howard Bardwell, an employee of Cornell, described in the Cornell Directory for 1940-41 as an experimentalist in animal husbandry.
In 1950 there were no street numbers on Warren Rd. The first number given to this building was 241 Warren Rd and that address was still in use in the 1986 Ithaca city directory. By 1983 the name of Cornell's private road from Warren Road to the Equine Research Park was Bluegrass Lane. Cornell began using 1 Bluegrass Ln as the mailing address for the Equine Research Park before the end of the 1980s.
In 2024, the mailing address for the Equine Research Park, a complex with several buildings, was still 1 Bluegrass Ln. For maintenance purposes and emergency services, the number assigned to this building, the only building in the complex used as a residence, is 326 Bluegrass Ln. In the Cornell database for buildings from Facilities & Campus Services (FCS), introduced in September 2023, the building code is 1114L, with "Equine Park House" as the building name.
In 2026, the Tompkins County Dept. of Assessment Beacon portal lists it on Warren Road but without a house number. It is in the Town of Ithaca with Tax ID 69.-1-1
