Description
This former home known on HistoryForge as 40A Shelter Valley Rd, burned in 1955 and Margaret Crance, the mother of the Crance family listed there in the 1950 Census, perished in the blaze. Per Bobby Sinn, grandson of Willis and Margaret Crance whom lived at this address in the 1950 Census, in 1950 there were two small houses on the current 40 Shelter Valley Rd property, including a rifle range. Per Bobby Sinn, the Crance family lived in one of the homes and Edwin Slater lived in the other. The 40A and 40B addresses on HistoryForge, were done to differentiate between the two former homes. Their exact location on the property is unknown, but they are believed to have been near where the existing house on the property now stands. It is also unlikely that either of these homes ever had Shelter Valley Rd. addresses.
