Description
This building was on Forest Home Drive in the 1950 census. The occupant was listed at Forest Home RD2 in the 1952 city directory and at 371 Arboretum Rd in the 1953 city directory. We used RD2 as the house no. to keep the Forest Home Dr address on the 1950 census records.  The house was known as the Smith House after Isaac and Thomas Smith who owned the property in the 19th century.  They purchased the property, including the sawmill, in 1831.  See entry in Tompkins County Clerk's Book R, Page 420, dated 1/25/1831, recorded 2/2/1831.  A plan from 1965 of the campus that shows the Smith House is at https://library.artstor.org/#/asset/SS35197_35197_19457670
This building was destroyed after 1996. See "Group Asks CU to Spare Home," Ithaca Journal, November 4, 1996, p2. [ https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-ithaca-journal-19th-century-smith-ho/116928600/ ]
