Description
The original structure on this site was a restaurant/bar and also the home of the Shultz family. The bar had several different names that it was referred to by folks around town; The Pigs Ear, The Black Cat, Stella's, and Shultz's, just to name a few. During a winter storm sometime in the 1960's the building caught fire and burned to the ground. Although next door to the Newfield Fire Co. at the time, the roads were covered with snow and when some firemen finally made it to the station, the doors were buried in drifts. Mr. Shultz was the only one home at the time and he had to save himself by jumping out of a 2nd story window. Whether the original building ever had a numerical address is unknown.
