“Named Besemer’s Depot, the now-demolished structure was a stop on the Elmira, Cortland and Northern Railroad (EC & N RR)…. Long-time area resident Carrie Besemer married into the founding family. Her husband’s grandfather, Willis Besemer, son of Josiah, served as the depot’s first and only station agent for 59 years. She lived in Willis’ house when she was first married, before moving into her own home 53 years ago.”
