Kresge Company built the three western bays of the present structure (123-127 E. State Street) and operated a five-and-dime store. They expanded the building to 129-131 E. State Street in 1940, remodeling a portion of an earlier three-story brick commercial building. Both the storefront and upper story have been remodeled since 1940. In 1969, the CVS drugstore chain occupied the store. Race Office Equipment and Variety Store moved to the store in 2004."
