The old buildings on the plot of land known as the 'flat-iron' are to be removed and a fine, two-story building, with a front of 58 feet on State st, by 46 feet in depth and varying width (to conform to the flat-iron shape of the site) as it extends to the rear angle of the lot; the whole to be surmounted by a Mansard roof. The front is to be of plate-glass and the usual ornamentation to be found on our more pretentious up-town blocks. That well-known builder, Mr. C. J. Gillett, has taken the contract oaf the planning and construction of the building, and commenced the work of getting out timber to day; next week the business of pulling down old buildings and preparing the site will be commenced...."
