Description
Built by C.G. Van Order (Architect and Builder) for Dr. George W. Melotte as his "dental cottage" in 1878. Melotte, who had previously conducted his dental business from the 2nd floor of the Wilgus Block, returned to that location by August 1879. (See notices in the Ithaca Daily Journal, October 26, 1878, p4 and August 2, 1879, p4.)

Residents in 1880 listed at "Pagoda opp. Post Office" in 1880 city directory.

By 1887 it was the office of Dr. Elfred R. Barney, surgeon and obstetrician (see placard on building in photo).
1890-1891 city directory listing for James E Lewis, "physician and surgeon, 14 and 16 N Tioga, Noble Block, h[ome] do."

1892-1893, 1894-1895 city directory listing for Minos Mead, attorney and counselor-at-law, "Nobles block N Tioga."

Noble's name is listed on the 1889 Beers map for the building to the left.

This building is on the 1888 Sanborn map and the 1889 Beers map, but not the 1893 Sanborn map. It was possibly removed when the new Ithaca Savings Bank Building was built in 1888 (see the difference in the size of the bank building in the 1888 and 1893 maps).
