"Oct. 16, 1912--25 Years Ago. The building at 439 N Geneva St., now being removed to another site to make room for a modern dwelling...housed one of the first lager beer saloons started im Ithaca... It was opened in the early [eighteen] seventies by a German named Descher who expected to get rich catering to the university trade, both faculty and undergraduate.. Separate rooms were provided for the professors and students so that the two classes of customers did not necessarily meet while at the resort." From- "This Day in Ithaca's History," Ithaca Journal.
