“A Market Basket super-market first of its kind in Ithaca, will be opened at 9 a.m. Friday at 214-218 W. State St. It is of the self-service type.
The store area, created by remodeling of the Head Block which was acquired under a long term lease, is 100 feet long and 50 feet wide not including the storage and refrigerating areas in the rear. 
Neat the entrance is the produce department of metal shelves equipped with vegetable humidifiers which will be in operation at all times. Next comes a frosted foods department…”
