Earlier street address 36 Wheat St (see 1893 Crandall map sheet 24 which appears to have been updated after the 1899 map).
The city renumbered its streets in 1899 using the hundred block system (see Crandall 1899 City Engineering Map).
Wheat Street was renamed Cleveland Ave in 1908.

Description:
This is a 2-story, L-shaped, residence with a cross-gabled roof. There is an enclosed porch on the east side of the house. An open stairway has been constructed next to the porch, which leads to a second-floor apartment. The windows are 1/1, double-hung sash.
Established African-American occupancy/ownership during the period of significance:
1930 – Mrs. Cora B. Martin, rented
1922 – purchased by Levi and Ora Spaulding 200/373; owned until Ora Spaulding died in 1944
