"A new service station at 327-329 E State St., under the banner of the Texas Company, was opened today. It is Shepherd's Automotive Service, under the management of Frank E. Shepherd.
Construction work is now under way at the rear of the service station on a modern service garage which will be completed about April 1, and which will also be operated by Mr. Shepherd. A parking area to accommodate at least 100 cars will be created.
The service station, erected on the site of the old Sincebaugh homestead by Cornell University for the Texas Company on a long-term lease, is the last word in automotive service.
Mr. Shepherd has been in automobile business in Ithaca for the past 18 years, and for the past five years has operated his own garage and repair service. Until the new garage is completed, this work will continue at his former garage at 123 S. Aurora St."
