209 South Corn Street
25 S Corn St
Description:
This is a 2-story, L-shaped, vinyl sided residence with a cross-gabled roof. There is an open porch in the ell. Its roof is supported by square posts and the balustrade is made up of square balusters. The windows have been replaced and are 1/1, double-hung sash.
According to the 1866 map, all four houses on this side of the street (#205, 207, 209, 211) were owned by W. Hill. The 1870 census identifies William Hill as a white, 62-year-old carpenter who owned $10,000 in real estate. It is unclear which of these houses he lived in at the time, but it appears that he rented the other 3 to white families, since in the census records his neighbors in both directions were white.
