In the nineteenth century, the farm belonged to several generations of the Manning family. An 1853 map of Tompkins County shows "Wid. Manning" as owner of the property. This was Hannah Manning (Dec. 27, 1809-Jan. 20, 1887), whose husband Abram Manning died in 1848."
