“Authorization to develop a vacant area at the rear of Hotel Ithaca as an off-street bus terminal with an exit on S. Aurora St., was extended by the Common Council in City Hall Wednesday….
The Lackawanna Railroad Station on Fulton St. has been suggested as a possible site for a bus terminal, but it was rejected because it was ‘too far’ from the center of the city. Baldwin said there is a daily average of some 200 persons from small towns in the immediate vicinity of the city who use the buses to work, shop, and transact business in Ithaca…
Plans for the new terminal back of the hotel call for a waiting room and offices in the Aurora St. quarters now occupied by the Farrell Refrigeration Company and the Busy Bee Restaurant, for a covered loading platform in the rear of the locations and for the all day parking area of some 30 automobiles which will be forced to leave the municipal area when the new 2-hour parking meters are installed there.”
