Walter Fowler's household was enumerated on the 1880 census between addresses at the corner of Westport and Buffalo and those on the corner of Westport and Mill. According to the 1880 city directory, he lived on his barge, "Island Belle." The 1888 Sanborn map has a boat landing on the Inlet at W Buffalo St.
