Treman hardware store started on the corner of State and Cayuga Sts in a three-story wood structure purchased from E.G. Pelton by brothers Leonard and Lafayette Treman in 1844. In 1857, their cousin, Leander King, joined them in the firm, renamed Treman, King & Co.
