The city renumbered its streets in 1899 using the hundred block system (see Crandall City Engineering Map, 1899).
The 1883 city directory lists John Illston at 72 W Green St. Illston Bros is on the 1889 Beers map at the corner of S Plain and W Green. In the 1890 city directory John Illston is listed at S Plain cor W Green and in the 1892 city directory he is listed as 14 S Plain St. When the city renumbered its streets in 1899 this address became 118 S Plain St.

Description:
This is a 1 ½ story, mid-19th century residence with a cross-gabled roof. A 2-story bay has been added on the southeast corner of the dwelling and an addition has been added at the rear. There is an enclosed porch on the front façade and an open porch on the south side. The windows are 1/1 double-hung sash.
