“The bids for Rockefeller hall and Goldwin Smith hall were opened yesterday afternoon by the Building Committee. The lowest bidder is Mr. John B. Schaefer, jr., New York City, whom the contracts have been awarded….
Since the negotiations have now been completed, the work of erection will immediately be commenced. The contractor expects to have his men and materials in Ithaca by May 1st and work will then be started on the Goldwin Smith hall.
The former residences of Professor Hewett, Professor Law, Professor Wait and Professor Creighton are now being removed to make room for the new hall of Physics.”
